Each year, an estimated 4 million children enter kindergarten*, and evidence shows that early education learning not only gets a child ready for kindergarten, it gets a child ready for life!

These days, our children are born digital and ready to learn. And for parents, it is easier than ever to literally “tap” into seemingly endless digital learning options – no matter the child’s age, aptitude or interest.

In fact, 97 percent of children under 4 years old have access to a mobile device for play and fun*, while 85 percent of moms look for educational content before saying yes to the app. It’s pretty clear that moms expect screen time to be equal parts fun and learning.

However, with 80K educational games in the App Store alone*, finding the right-fit app can feel daunting. Before you hit the download button, IntellectoKids (makers of preschool educational apps) offers this check list as a guidepost for parents.
  • Is it truly an educational app? The app may be fun and develop creativity, but in doing so, it should also help develop core logic skills, sorting, pattern and color recognition with a knowledgeable early learning expert involved in its development.
  • Does the app advance as your child masters the game? If a child loves a game, they will play it over and over again. Make sure that the game evolves and offers new, advanced learning experience with your child’s progress.
  • Is the app ad free, no in-app purchases? If the preschool app includes IAPs or ads – just say no.
  • Does the app track your child’s progress for personalized learning? The more you know about your child’s progress, the more specific you can be to offer new challenges as well as celebrate key learning moments.
  • Is it fun? Does it include animals, trains, and silliness? Your preschooler will set you straight here. If it’s not fun, you’ll know quickly.
In addition, to preschool favorites like Toca Boca and Duck Duck Moose, there is a world of app gems to help preschoolers get ready to learn, including a new favorite Safari School by IntellectoKids. Safari School checks all the above boxes – educational, ad free, no IAP, fun play and practiced, personalized learning. Safari School takes children ages 3-6 years old on a delightful train adventure to learn colors, sorting and counting. As your child masters a topic, the game advances – offering the best in digital learning.

By having an app check list handy, parents won’t miss the lesser-known app gems and will be assured that screen time (whether short bursts or more thoughtful play) is not only fun, but educational too.

Safari School by IntellectoKids is an ad-free, mobile education game for preschoolers available for $1.99 at Google Play, the App Store and Amazon. #GetReady2Learn
